Sheila Banks
MEET
Founder and Executive Director of Live Serve Care Foundation
Sheila Banks is the founder and Executive Director of Live Serve Care Foundation (LSC). For more than 20 years, she has dedicated her life to volunteering and supporting numerous nonprofit and for-profit organizations – including two family foundations. Sheila is the aunt and Godmother of Corey Jones, who was murdered by a negligent (former) police officer. She dutifully represents her late sister, Corey’s mother, Anita Banks – an educator, writer, soloist, and church leader – who passed away in 2006 due to complications from breast cancer. Under the guidance of her father, Bishop Sylvester Banks Sr., Sheila remained prayerful and relentless in the fight for justice for her nephew, Corey.
Thanks to God and the diligent, combined efforts of family, community, trial jury, and key members of the state attorney’s office, Corey’s murderer was found guilty and is serving a 25-year prison term. As part of LSC’s mission, Sheila connects with other families in similar situations to support them and their respective pursuits of justice.
During their fight for Corey’s justice, the Banks family co-hosted Unity Day with the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department. They also organized protests, rallies, petitions, letter writing campaign and advocated for police body cams – influencing federal, state and local laws. Sheila continues her activist work through LSC by serving mothers, families and communities affected by unnecessary gun violence, as she expands Corey's legacy.
Sheila’s passions include lending her time, talents and treasures to causes greater than herself or her own endeavors. She maintains an unbreakable bond with her family. When she has a moment of spare time, Sheila thoroughly enjoys traveling, walking, fashion, reading, fine cuisine and organizing closet spaces.
